R Whitley & Co has a long history dating back to 1938. Take a look at our timeline below to see some of the key moments from our 85 year history as a family run business.

Ronald Whitley establishes his Chartered Auctioneers & Estate Agency practice at 3 Broadway Parade in West Drayton, just opposite our present offices.

Outbreak of war in Europe.
1945
1945
R Whitley & Co emerges from the lean years of the war, mainly involved in Property Management.
1946
1946
First civilian aircraft takes off from Heathrow bound for Buenos Aires.
1948
1948
The London Olympic Games takes place with some athletes housed at RAF West Drayton.
1952
1952
Ronald Whitley purchases 40 Station Road as a family home, with plans to convert the garage into the office. It’s still our premises today, but no longer a family home!

R Whitley & Co moves across the road from 3 Broadway Parade to 40 Station Road.

John, Ronald’s eldest son, joins the company.
1963

R Whitley & Co celebrates its 25th silver anniversary.

The Beatles are mobbed at Heathrow following their first American tour.

Ronald’s second son, Stephen, joins the company.

Paul, Ronalds youngest son, joins the company.

Neil Armstrong becomes the first man to set foot on the Moon.

Concorde’s first passenger flight from Heathrow.

40 Station Road undergoes major refurbishment, being fully converted into offices with an open plan layout on the ground floor.

R Whitley & Co installs its first computer system.

The busiest day in residential sales with over 100 buyers queuing to purchase homes on a new development in Yiewsley. We also celebrated our 50th anniversary!

Christopher, grandson of the founder, joins the company. He is now a Partner.

Rightmove is launched, revolutionising the way buyers search for property.

Richard, grandson of the founder, joins the company. He is now the Managing Partner.

Olympic & Paralympic Games are held in London.

R Whitley & Co celebrates its 75th anniversary – a family business spanning over three generations.

Jonny, grandson of the founder, re-joins the company. He is currently an Associate.

Alex was made an Associate in 2017, recognising many years of work and experience within our Property Management department.

The Elizabeth Line begins running from West Drayton into central London, elevating the town’s status as a commuter hotspot.
